NANTICOKE HEALTH SERVICES WELCOMES NEW MEDICAL DIRECTOR OF WOUND CARE CENTER
Michael Wingate, MD, Medical Director, Nanticoke Memorial Hospital’s Wound Care Center
Michael Wingate, MD, currently specializes in general surgery at Nanticoke Health Services and has recently been named to the position of Medical Director of Nanticoke Memorial Hospital’s Wound Care and Hyperbaric Center.  Dr. Wingate started his new role on April 1, 2010 and brings with him extensive experience in wound care and general surgery.

Dr. Wingate is Board Certified by the American Board of Surgery and graduated from the State University of New York at Stony Brook. He completed his residency at West Virginia University, Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown. His professional memberships include Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, The American Society of Breast Surgeons, and the Surgical Infection Society.

At Nanticoke’s Wound Care and Hyperbaric Center, their team of specialists is trained to treat all types of wounds as early and efficiently as possible. The first step in the road to recovery of a non-healing wound is an examination by the Medical Director. Next, one of the specially trained clinicians creates an individualized treatment plan in which all the necessary caregivers – from specialty surgeons to therapists and family members – are included.  Advanced wound care dressings are available to promote rapid healing. The plan is then communicated to the primary care physician, who continues to treat underlying conditions and provide overall care for the patient. This treatment approach has been designed to complement the primary or referring physician’s care. A physician has the option to call the center for an appointment for his or her patient or patients may call the center directly at 302-628-8322.

Nanticoke Health Services features a full-service community hospital and an award-winning, long-term care facility. The hospital has emergency services ranked #1 in Delaware for heart emergencies, a comprehensive cancer center, a Nationally Accredited Stroke Center and Nationally Accredited Sleep Center, the only Delaware health care facility to have an Outpatient Pulmonary Rehabilitation program certified by the American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation, and a growing physician network that includes physicians in over 37 different specialties.  For further information, please call 302-629-6611 or visit www.nanticoke.org.
